Apply for a Shrimp Permit

To fish for shrimp commercially within Eastern IFCA’s district, you must have a permit.

Fishing for shrimp within the Wash and North Norfolk Coast SAC will require a ‘Category 1’ permit. This will cost £100, and applicants must fulfil the requirements detailed in this infographic.

Fishing for shrimp elsewhere in the district will require a ‘Category 2’ permit, which does not have a fee and is open to everyone.

Please note that both permit types require gear certification to be completed before a permit will be issued, so early applications are encouraged using this application form.

Apply for Exemption from our byelaws

If you wish to conduct an activity which is prohibited by an Eastern IFCA byelaw (for example a scientific survey or stocking a shellfish aquaculture area) you will need to apply for an exemption.

To apply please complete an application which can be found at the link below. Eastern IFCA will consider your request taking into account potential damage to the environment and fisheries sustainability. It may take up to 28 working days to process your application. In addition, if the proposed activity is planned to take place in a Marine protected Area, advice will be required from Natural England which may increase the time taken to process your application to 56 working days.
