Bass Regulation Update!

The Sea Fisheries (Amendment) Regulations 2026 have now been made and published on legislation.gov.uk, confirming the uplift to the recreational bass bag limit.

Recreational anglers will now be allowed to retain 3 bass per day outside of February and March:

  • 1 January – 31 January – 3 Sea bass, per angler, per day
  • 1 February – 31 March – Catch-and-release only for recreational fishers
  • 1 April – 31 December – 3 Sea bass, per angler, per day

Please note that:

The minimum size for European seabass remains at 42 cm.

No bass may be taken by fixed or drift nets.

Thes rules apply if you are fishing from a boat or from shore.
