Mapping What Matters: Have Your Say on England’s Fishing Grounds

Active and retired fishers are being invited to take part in Mapping What Matters, a Defra-led project exploring the cultural, social and economic importance of England’s fishing grounds.

Through a series of drop-in sessions, participants can identify important fishing grounds and transit routes, and explain why they matter, whether for income, safety, heritage or family tradition. All information will be anonymised and used to create maps that help inform future marine planning, including offshore wind developments, Marine Protected Areas and Fisheries Management Plans.

It doesn’t need to take long, and the information you share will be anonymised and combined with others’ contributions before being made available to decision-makers. This means that no individual grounds or vessels will ever be shown.

Attendance at the drop-in sessions does not require prior registration.
