End-of-Life Fishing Gear Amnesty Event Returns to King’s Lynn

Following the success of previous end-of-life fishing gear amnesty events, Eastern IFCA and its partners are pleased to announce that the final event will take place from 5th – 16th October 2026.

The event provides an opportunity for fishermen to responsibly dispose of unwanted fishing gear and associated materials, helping to reduce waste and support the recycling of materials.

What can be recycled?

The following materials can be accepted:

  • Trawl and dolly nets
  • Monofilament nets
  • Unleaded ropes
  • Plastic pots
  • Fish crates
  • Pot markers
  • Metal crab pots

Please ensure that crab pots are free from rubbish and ropes are clean of seaweed before they are handed in. Keep Britain Tidy will organise the collection.

Fishermen who would like to participate should get in touch. For further information contact either:

Eastern IFCA: 01553 775321 – ask for Yliam Treherne
Keep Britain Tidy:  07918 625635 ask for Neil Hembrow

Collection locations: We are planning to collect discarded fishing gear from yards and quaysides in King’s Lynn, along the North Norfolk coast, and at the quay in Southwold.
