First UK-wide survey into seal interactions

The Scottish Creel Fishermen’s Federation (SCFF) has launched a nationwide survey for the UK and Irish industries to provide data to help quantify the impact of seals on fishing activities.

In addition to questions on seal interactions, the survey explores diversification opportunities, alternative fishing methods and ways to improve the resilience of the inshore fleet. The information collected is intended to identify priorities for future research, funding opportunities and policy initiatives aimed at supporting fishermen and the long-term sustainability of low-impact inshore fisheries.

All responses to the survey will remain anonymous and confidential, with findings reported only in summary form. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete and will remain open until 20 July.
