Lead, Champion, Protect
Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities (IFCAs) are statutory bodies established under the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 (MaCAA) to regionally manage sustainable inshore fisheries and protect marine ecosystems.
There are 10 IFCAs in England. The 10 IFCAs are committees or joint committees of local government. The principal objective of The Association of Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities (AIFCA) is to carry on business of providing representation and support for the inshore fisheries and conservation authorities.
AIFCA have released a series of short films on how England’s 10 Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities (IFCAs) lead, champion and manage a sustainable marine environment and inshore fisheries.
Through the stories of IFCA members and officers, we hear first hand how coastal communities are managing the future of their own coastline.
