Seed mussel found at Titchwell

A local fisher has found a modest amount of undersize (i.e. less than 50mm) mussel (Mytilus edulis) at Titchwell.   Eastern IFCA officers have not undertaken a formal stock survey but a site visit has indicated that a viable amount of mussel has set on the peat in the area.mussels

As the mussels are undersize, an exemption is required from Eastern IFCA to fish these mussels.  Any such exemptions will only be granted for the purposes of relaying seed mussels and will have conditions, the aim of which is to protect the site from damage.

Exemptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  To apply, please submit a completed exemption request form which can be found by clicking here.
