Upcoming stakeholder engagement sessions on the MMOs proposed harbour porpoise bycatch management options

The Marine Management Organisation are hosting a number of drop-in sessions to engage with local fishers. The aim of these sessions is to discuss the accidental capture (bycatch) of harbour porpoise from gillnet fisheries, the available evidence and potential management options. The MMO are seeking views and insights from fishers, both on the occurrence of harbour porpoise bycatch and on the feasibility of the proposed management options.

The drop-ins provide an opportunity to learn more about the proposed management options, share your knowledge and have your say regarding practical and collaborative ways to reduce harbour porpoise bycatch before any formal decisions are made. The drop-in sessions relevant to fishers in the Eastern IFCA district are:
