Wash Cockle Fishery Closure – Stock Surveys

The Wash cockle fishery will be closed on 20 March at 23:59 to enable the annual cockle stock surveys to take place.

Following the expiry of the Wash Fishery Order 1992, we are currently managing the Wash cockle and mussel fisheries using a temporary closure, and ‘open’ the fishery by granting exemptions to the closure. As such, we are revoking these exemptions to ‘close’ the fishery, with the intention to re-grant exemptions for the 2023 cockle fishery.
