Wash Estuary Herring – Public Consultation
A public consultation meeting will be held on 2 October between 14:00–17:00. The meeting will be held at King’s Lynn Town Hall (Council Chamber, King’s Lynn Town Hall, Saturday Market Place, King’s Lynn, PE30 5DQ) there is also an option for a hybrid meeting (via Microsoft Teams) for online participation.
As a general reintroduction to the project, Cefas aim to document spring-spawning activity of herring (Clupea harengus) within the Wash and adjacent waters. This could be through targeted catches or incidental reporting e.g., herring eggs found on pots or lines. The plan would then be to discuss potential sample collection during the spawning period (February–April 2025) from interested parties. Please get in touch if you need or would like extra information.
All are welcome to attend, it may be of particular interest to fishers operating in the region (regardless of target species).
