Wash Fishery Order 1992 (WFO) transition: Phase 2
Phase 2 of the WFO transition is now open to applications. The deadline for applications is midday on Monday 6 March 2023.
Wash Fishery Order Transition
The WFO expired in January 2023 and will be replaced with the Wash Cockle and Mussel Byelaw 2021 pending ministerial confirmation. The Authority is undertaking a transition from the WFO to the byelaw in two phases.
Phase 1, which has now closed to applications, considered applications from existing WFO Entitlement holders. We are now considering the applications and the Wash Fisheries Sub-Committee is anticipated to make decisions on these in April of 2023.
It is likely that additional permits will be available to issue after Phase 1 and eligibility for these will be determined through Phase 2 which is open to any applicant, with eligibility determined by a points system which prioritises those who are engaged in compliant fishing in the North Norfolk coast.
