2026 Wash Cockle Fishery

The 2026 Wash Cockle Fishery is likely to open on 15 June 2026 (subject to reaching agreement with Natural England and  consultation with industry). To participate in this fishery, a valid Wash Cockle and Mussel Byelaw (WCMB) Permit is required. All those eligible for a permit are reminded to apply for a permit as soon as possible, and particularly if the application includes a change to the vessel named on a permit or ‘new’ skippers (especially if they have not been named on a permit previously). Applications forms and more information can be found online here: Wash Cockle and Mussel Byelaw Permit – Eastern IFCA.

In accordance with the Eastern IFCA Eligibility Policy (see Section 9 – Nominated Deputies), completion of the Wash Training Course is a mandatory requirement for those named on a WCMB permit.

Eastern IFCA will be holding an additional Wash Training Course for those who wish to complete this requirement. The course will last approximately 2 hours and will include a short break.

The additional training session will be held as follows:
1000hrs – 1200hrs on Tuesday 10 June 2026 – Eastern IFCA Offices, King’s Lynn (Unit 6, North Lynn Business Village, Bergen Way, King’s Lynn, PE30 2JG).
