Bass Fishery Management Measures Update

At the last full Authority meeting on 28th January 2015 it was agreed to develop management measures for sea bass and officers were asked to seek legal advice on the viability of using the emergency byelaw process to achieve this. As a consequence of that advice and the changing context in terms of management measures being actively considered at the EU and UK levels the Authority have determined that the use of an emergency byelaw is no longer appropriate.

Management measures will continue to be developed, using the ordinary byelaw route if appropriate, which will involve extensive consultation with stakeholders.
