Consultation: Shrimp Permit Conditions Review

Eastern IFCA are undertaking a review of the Shrimp Permit Byelaw 2018 permit conditions in line with the requirement of the byelaw that these conditions be reviewed every four years. The purpose of this review is to evaluate the effectiveness of existing permit conditions and to identify any challenges or opportunities for improvement.

As well as evaluation of existing permit conditions, two changes to permit conditions are being proposed:

  • An increase to a 3-minute ping rate for VMS.
  • Removing or altering the experience requirements on Category 1 Shrimp Permits.

To inform this review, stakeholder views are being sought on both the current permit conditions and the proposed changes. To have your say on the Shrimp Permit Conditions, please see the consultation document found here: Formal Consultation Document

The consultation will close at midday on Thursday 6th November 2025.
