Extension of Wash Emergency Byelaw 2018

Eastern IFCA implemented an emergency byelaw, the Wash Emergency Byelaw 2018, on the 27th July 2018.  Emergency byelaws expire after 12 months unless extended by the Secretary of State.

The Secretary for State has approved the extension of the emergency byelaw until the 27th January 2020.

Eastern IFCA intends to replace the emergency byelaw with the Wash Restricted Area Byelaw 2019.  Eastern IFCA is consulting with stakeholders about this byelaw until the 22nd July 2019 – more information on this consultation can be found here.

The Wash Emergency Byelaw 2018 prohibits fishing for oysters, mussels, cockles, clams, scallops and queens within the area between the boundaries of the Wash Fishery Order 1992 and the Le Strange Estate on the eastern side of the Wash.
