Wash Temporary Closure Renewal

Following the recent consultation, the Authority will be continuing to manage the Wash shellfish fisheries under the Interim Measures and will be renewing the temporary closure. Any current exemptions that allow fishing will remain valid until further notice, on the condition that the holder fishes in strict accordance with the exemption conditions already issued.

As such the area previously managed under the Wash Fishery Order 1992 and the Wash Restricted Area Byelaw shall be closed under Byelaw 8:- Temporary Closure of Shellfish Fisheries from 3 January 2024 until 3 January 2025. Please see this link for a full chart of the closed area.

Please also note that the 2023 Cockle fishery still has TAC remaining. As such, new operating times have been issued for January and February 2024. These can be found at this link.
