Cromer Shoal Chalk Beds MCZ Inshore Vessel Restriction: Information gathering

The Authority is reviewing the Inshore Vessel Restriction which is intended to reduce risk to the Cromer Shoal MCZ.  The review has been instigated after potentially impacted stakeholders came forward after the public consultation on the measure.

The inshore vessel restriction will prohibit fishing for crab and lobster using pots within 3nm of the shore within the east and werst boundary of the MCZ unless you are fishing from a beach launched vessel. The restriction is not yet in effect. It will not come into effect until the Cromer Shoal Chalk Beds Byelaw 2023 has been confirmed. We intend to carry out this review prior to the byelaw coming into effect.

To inform the review, the Authority is seeking information about any fishers who may be impacted by the measure. A short questionnaire is available at the link below. The deadline for submitting information to inform the review is midday on Monday 14 April 2025.
